New Year's Eve Wedding Bride and Groom in the Photo Booth

Dave and Heather had such an awesome wedding reception, getting married on New Year’s Eve has it’s benefits if you turn it into the awesome party these two did. The reception was held at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. The party definitely went well past midnight to give everyone a chance to ring in the new year together with family and friends. We ran the photo booth till 1 am and it was quite popular. The big bonus for Dave is that I bet he will never forget his anniversary.

Josh & Desiree Wed at Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming, GA

We were honored to spend the day with Josh and Desiree and their friends and families on November 26, 2011 at Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming, Georgia. DJ Tony provided the entertainment as well as video work, the video will be coming soon (it takes a lot of work and a bit of time to get that part completed). I spent the day working with the bride and groom on their wedding day photos as well as getting the Photo Booth up and running, I was blessed to have an assistant help with all of that. The photo booth went over big time with the family and guests, we also created a scrapbook for the extra copy of the photo strips. We were blessed with great weather that day which was lucky for Desiree because she had her heart set on getting out on the golf course immediately after the ceremony for some wedding portraits. This was the first wedding we have done that featured beer pong at the reception, which turns out is how the bride and groom met through some friends, so it was perfect and was definitely a big hit with the grooms friends just as we thought it would be.

Jorge & Melisa’s Wedding Day – a glimpse

I can’t help remembering the excitement witnessed during Jorge & Melisa’s wedding ceremony. I have been involved in a LOT of weddings, but never in my life have I seen so much excitement shared by a bride and a groom during their wedding ceremony. You know most wedding ceremonies there is very little movement, people generally stand still, now I know that is not always the case. Once Tony gets done processing the video footage, I hope to have some video to share of them jumping up and down at the altar.
Until then, I will share a few photos, one of which has been entered into a photography contest called “Perfect Pairs”, which this couple is indeed a perfect pair, they are just so cute together. Paula & Michael got married on July 23rd, 2011 in Gainesville, GA. I started the day with the girls getting ready at their house before we went to the church. Any images you see from the ceremony had to be taken through a window from outside of the sanctuary as they didn’t allow photography during the wedding inside of the ceremony. I did get some good images during the wedding ceremony nonetheless. As I usually do, I have put together a collage from the day to give you a glimpse of their wedding day. More Photo Booth…

The photo booth is getting more exposure as people get to experience it in person. This past weekend the photo booth was used at a wedding reception and we did the scrapbook option. I had a great flow going from people going in, getting their photos done in less than 30 seconds, about 30 seconds later their photo strip was printed and in their hand and the 2nd copy of the photo strip went into the book and then they immediately wrote their well wishes to the bride and the groom next to their images in the scrapbook. I continue to hear compliment after compliment about how fun it was and how they think it is a great idea to do this for a special event. I always test things out before we get started to make sure everything is working properly and that all the settings are right to get the best results. Here is a test shot I took during set up.

A lot of photographers only blog images and write very little. This post will be quite the opposite as there are no images to blog this time, I just wanted to share some of my thoughts with you. I am constantly studying photography on a daily basis. I have done my best to not get too caught up in pursuing the latest camera equipment, what I mean by this is not continually buying the latest thing to come out. If you are not a photographer maybe you can relate by thinking about the iphone, when a new version comes out, people ditch their current iphone for the latest release even if theirs was working just fine, does that make sense? Some people do that with cars, and then some people do that with camera equipment. I resist falling into the technology trap as much as possible because it can be a big money pit that you keep feeding. What I will share with you is that I have built up my arsenal of gear to a point that I have all of my bases covered, but in the last few weeks I made a decision to take things to the next level in hopes to get even better results in certain challenging lighting conditions. Being that I am a wedding photographer, I often find myself short on time or space and sometimes short on light, this just goes with the territory of wedding work. I promise there will be more images coming soon and I hope to share images that I wouldn’t have been able to do before this upgrade.

Beau & Jeremy’s Wedding at Hard Labor Creek State Park

Beau and Jeremy had an intimate wedding at Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge, GA on May 22, 2011. It was our first time to this park and we were happily surprised to find how nice the facilities are there, upon our initial entrance to the park, we discovered a golf course including a club house and golf carts. The wedding ceremony and reception was held at shelter 1, which has a great view of the lake, a great setting for the wedding ceremony. I will let you know the altar you see in their pictures was built by the family and brought in that day, so it is not a structure there are the park, just figured you would want to know that in case you were thinking of going there.

The Photo Booth now has a frame & walls. This past weekend we also did a Photo Booth Wedding Guest Book with images from the photo booth. The guests LOVED it. I often get requests when preparing images for enlargements to make people look a little better than life if you know what I mean, well I am one of those people too. I like to smooth things over and look my best in my pictures too, so I will use a my own photo to show what is possible and you can judge for yourself.
